Neil Gaiman interview with Tim Ferris
I don't subscribe to Tim Ferris's show (maybe I should) but I randomly came across this interview with Neil Gaiman where he talks about his process. You can watch the full interview here and below read a few summarised take-aways.
- Rule for writing: You can either write or do nothing, you can't do anything else.
- Giving yourself permission to either write or not
- After a while, writing is more interesting than doing nothing
- Write the first draft by hand
- Use two different pen colours, swap each day and you can track how much you're writing each day
- Anything you write can be fixed. What can't be fixed is the perfection of a blank page, because there's nothing there to fix
